Located southeast of Yurakucho in Chuo ward, Ginza has been the place for high society and luxury shopping for more than 100 years. Though heavily bombed in the WWII, it was soon revitalized again as a fine shopping area. In the era of Bubble Economy in the 80s, it was said that the value of land in Ginza was even higher than California. The streets of Ginza are laid out in a grid pattern. A good time to visit here is when the main street, Chuo Dori, is closed off to traffic on weekend afternoons.
