Declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, Shirakawa-go is famous for the well preserved Gassho-Zukuri farmhouses. Some are more than 250 years old.
Located in the northern part of Gifu, Okuhida is blessed with a 3,000-meter-high mountain range and numerous hot spring resorts. A great place to relax and unwind from the city life.
Located in the northern part of Gifu prefecture, Hida-Takayama is known for its well-preserved castle and merchant towns from the Edo Period, while being called “The Little Kyoto of Hida.” The ruins of Takayama Castle, built on a mountain in the late 16th century, are a part of the Shiroyama Park today. There are numerous old wooden houses stand side by side.
