Tokushima and Naruto
|
Tokushima is the first city beyond the Akashi Kaikyo-Ohashi bridge and best known for its Awa Odori, the largest dance festival in Japan. The three day festival is held in mid-August each year, which draws over a million of people from across the country. For those who miss this opportunity, the Awa Odori Kaikan is recommended that offers many exhibits relating to its trademark dance. Beyond Tokushima to the north, Naruto attracts visitors too. The famous swirling whirlpools can be seen under the Onaruto Bridge. It is also the traditional starting point for the 88 Sacred Temple Pilgrimage around Shikoku.
