Tsugaru Peninsula is located in the northwestern part of Aomori prefecture, housing a number of sightseeing spots such as Tappizaki Cape and Takanosaki. The area is known as the birthplace of Japanese famous author Osamu Dazai, who wrote “Run, Melos!” or “The Setting Sun.” If you like music, Tsugaru area is quite often featured in Enka songs, which deal with topics including nostalgia. There are a number of windy spots that reminds people of the tough life in the far north. There is a Tsugaru Shamisen Museum in this area, too.
