Northern Tohoku
|
Northern Tohoku area consists of Aomori, Iwate, and Akita prefectures. Situated at the northern tip of Honshu Island, these three prefectures are the coldest region on the main island. Aomori is known for its juicy apples. Iwate is famous for its natural dairy products. Akita is known for its luxury brand of rice, Akita Komachi. With the new bullet train line extended to Aomori, the nature and hot springs are much closer for visitors from Tokyo.
