Nikko Kinugawa
|
Along with Kyoto, Nikko is one of the best destinations to see ancient Japan. With over 1,200 years of history, Nikko boasts several heritage sites. Especially eye-catching is Tosho-gu Shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Tosho-gu, Rinnoji Temple and Futarasan Shrine were designated as UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. Other picturesque locations such as Chuzenji Lake, Kegon Falls, and Mt. Nantai attract visitors, too. Located nearby Nikko, Kinugawa is a hot spring district with a relaxed atmosphere.
Nikko and Kinugawa are easily accessible from Tokyo and are popular vacation sites.
