Yufuin is located on a flat river basin in the center of Oita prefecture. It sits in the shadow of the majestic twin peaks of Yufu-dake volcano, stands at 1584m high, which serves as the backdrop for numerous picturesque views. Another natural landmark of this area is the beautiful Lake Kinrinko at the end of the town’s main walking route. Just like in Beppu, making a journey from one onsen to another is a popular activity in Yufuin. Furthermore, Yufuin has a few interesting temples and shrines. It is also known for its high-quality handicrafts.
