Lake Toya and Noboribetsu
|
Located in southwestern Hokkaido, Shikotsu-Toya National Park includes two well known areas: Lake Toya and Noboribetsu. It contains a whole range of beautiful volcanic landscapes such as crater lakes and hot springs. Approximately four million tourists visit this resort area every year.
The park is the easiest national park to access from Sapporo. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as hiking on the active volcano Tarumaezan. In Noboribetsu, there are two unique amusement facilities: Date Jidaimura, a history theme park, and Marine Park Nixe, an aquarium built like a Danish castle.
