Times to visit: many times

What recommendations would you give to friends who are visiting
Tokyo after the great earthquake?
• Fashion: For fashion it is Omotesando in Aoyama area.
especially the Comme des Garçons and 10 Corso Como Comme des Garçons
stores.
Fashion ideas in Tokyo come and go very quickly, and the retail scene
is changing all the time. The discovery of new products, shops and retail
innovations is always a delight in this area.
Department stores that go on the “must-visit” list are Seibu Shibuya
and Isetan Men’s in Shinjuku.
Another delightful area is Ueno, where you will be surprised by the variety
of food and vintage American goods available at the Ameyayokocho
Black Market. The atmosphere is electric!
• Musical Instruments: Tokyo is also a great place to purchase new and
vintage musical instruments, particularly guitars and their peripherals.
For guitar enthusiasts, I would recommend guitar shops in Shibuya
and Ochanomizu. The levels of service and knowledge expressed by the
staff are true examples of Japanese professionalism. The Ikebe, Ishibashi
and Kurosawa stores are definite stops to add on the travel list.
• Accommodation: Serviced apartments are my preferred choice as
they are usually situated in residential districts, which I enjoy exploring.
