Yonaguni-jima Island
Located at only 111 kilometers east of Taiwan, Yonaguni-jima island is the westernmost inhabited island in Japan. On clear days, Taiwan is visible from the west coast of the island. Yonaguni-jima island is rather small, with an area of 28.88 squared kilometers. If you rent a car or a scooter, you can go around the island in less than an hour, but beware of the horses and cows wandering around!
The main attraction of the island is the mysterious underwater ruins off the southern coast, which is popular among divers. Moreover, the island was featured in a TV drama of a doctor practicing on a remote island, which was modeled on Yonaguni-jima island. The drama set has since become tourist attractions. Last but not least, if you like seafood cuisine, the marlins caught in nearby fishery would not disappoint you.

1. By Air: There are flights connceting Yonaguni with Okinawa and Ishigaki Airport.
2. By Boat: 4.5 hours by ferry from Ishigaki-jima Island.
