Many people are aware of Club Med resort at Ishigaki-jima Island, but have you ever heard of Yonaguni-jima Island?

Yonaguni is situated to the west of Ishigaki-jima Island. The monument signifies its geo location as the westernmost point of Japan.

Only 111 kilometers away from Taiwan, it is said that Taiwan is visible from Yonaguni on clear days. Even cell phone signal from Taiwan providers reaches the west tip of Yonaguni.

This map shows that Yonaguni is situated between Taiwan and Ishigaki-jima Island.

The island was featured in a Japanese drama about a young doctor practicing on this remote island. The film set has since become tourism attractions.

Beach, animals, nature! Beware of the Texas Gate set up on the road. These Texas gates are like a cattle grid that prevents livestock from passing along a road. Slow down when you see a yellow sign on the surface of the road.

The architectural style is similar to those in Okinawa, with lion sculptures on the roof.
