Tappizaki Cape is situated at the northern tip of Tsugaru Peninsula and is part of Tsugaru Quasi-National Park. As the name suggests, strong winds blow all year round as if a dragon soars into the sky. The cape is also called as “Cape of Wind” and pioneering experiments of wind power generation were conducted here. Pursuing a walking trail, you can enjoy superb views of the Matsumae Peninsula in Hokkaido if the weather permits. You can also overlook ships crossing the Tsugaru Straits. Tappizaki Cape has long been the scenic site where many writers such as Yoshida Shoin and Dazai Osamu visited.   Tappizaki Seaside Park Located at the Tappizaki Cape, northernmost of the Tsugaru Peninsula, Tappizaki Seaside Park has a breathtaking view of the sea. You can enjoy various activities such as fishing, sea bathing, and scuba diving. There are accommodations like lodges and cottages overlooking the Japan Sea. In addition, the stairway extending from Tappizaki Lighthouse to the Obi Island is designated as National Route 399. It is worth seeing since it is the only pedestrianized national road in Japan.
