Ibaraki is located about 40km northeast of Tokyo. With the Pacific Ocean to the east and mountains in the north, the prefecture offers plenty of tourist attractions including many “bests” in Japan. Just to name a few: Fukuroda-no-taki Waterfall is one of the best three in Japan; Lake Kasumigaura is Japan’s second largest; and the Kairakuen Garden in Mito is one of the three most celebrated landscaped gardens in Japan. Another popular icon is Mt. Tsukuba located in the center, frequented by hikers and tourists.
