WAttention is releasing a new travel guide of Japan! 41 celebrities and cultural figures worldwide made this book possible. “TRAVEL GUIDE TO AID JAPAN” aids Japan with tourism!
The Great Eastern earthquake has left catastrophic damage in Japan. The tourism industry, in particular, has been devastated with a dramatic reduction in foreign tourists. Sensational journalism based on false information has created a real problem; the damage- and radiation-free regions of Hokkaido, Kansai and Kyushu without foreign tourists. Based on the idea that tourism can help rebuild Japan, we decided to publish a new travel guide to attract foreign tourists back to the country. The title “TRAVEL GUIDE TO AID JAPAN” says it all. To appeal to foreign readers, the book is uniquely composed of recommendations on places, buildings, shops and events given by foreign celebrities who love Japan. The participants of this project include leading artists, fashion designers, writers, musicians, graphic designers, editors, academics; and even a conductor and a chef, their love for Japan and its beauty makes up the book. The editing team has added a superb index of the best Japanese hotels, ryokan, restaurants and museums at the end of the book. The paperback style and Japanese bunko size fuses the East and the West. Masayoshi Nakajo, a maestro of Japanese design industry, known for his “Hanatsubaki” series for Shiseido, designed the front cover. Kishin Shinoyama, one of the leading photographers in Japan, photographed the scenery in the introduction. Masanobu Sugatsuke, an editor with extensive experience in working with cultural magazines as well as publishing such books as Editing in Tokyo and Editing Heaven, directed the editing. TRAVEL GUIDE TO AID JAPAN is an example of global creative power hoping to assist in the rebuilding of Japan after the disasters, and we hope that many people around the world will read it. <Participating Celebrities> Allan West: Artist, USA
